About The Author

Meet Your Guide Out from Manic Mondays...

Stephen A. Bort is a researcher and writer residing in Park County, Colorado. In his long career, beginning in 1973 in the Texas Panhandle, he has worked as a draftsman in the fields of oil & gas, coal mining, electronic calculators, power substations, and architecture. After leaving that discipline, he then worked as a paralegal for construction oversight/cost overruns cases and Superfund liability cases. At that time, he worked at an Ohio nuclear reactor facility and John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA, among other U.S. locations.


From 1996 to 2010, he worked for one of the oldest, most iconic, shipping container corporations. The double-stack container seen often on trains passing through mid-America was invented at that company, which had its origins in the American gold rush days shipping cargo back and forth from the East Coast down to Panama and then up the West Coast. Those were true creators and workers! He interacted with other workers from just about every country that had one or more shipping ports. He maintained proper documentation, mostly for bills of lading and bookings, but also spoke in person and over the phone with international customers to help guide their cargo from one port to another--San Pedro, Mumbai, Elizabeth, Le Havre, Qatar, Shanghai . . . After leaving the container shipping industry, he moved to delivering mail for the U.S. Postal Service, serving a constellation of mountain towns in Colorado. With his 4-wheel, right hand drive Jeep Cherokee, his feet moving between the brake and gas, he delivered mail up and down mountain roads in rain, snow, sun and wind. Afterwards, he retired, crafted and sold nature photography and pursued his writing.


Stephen naturally gravitated toward reading, researching, and writing from a very early age, also having written fiction, screenplays, music and lyrics. He worked on the development of a Western screenplay adaptation of his once with legendary Columbia and Universal director Earl "No Strain" Bellamy in the year before the director's death in New Mexico.


He often was noted by family and friends as having a different “eye” for world happenings. Many times this was noticed after seeing movies, then bringing up perceptions about the films that few others shared. “Uncle Steve,” he heard often, “I didn’t see those crazy things when I watched the movie!” “Well,” I would think, politely keeping further thoughts to myself, “someone has to see those things. It might as well be me.”


Stephen’s research and writing skills rose to a new level after reading Scott P. Scheper’s Antinet Zettelkasten in 2024. It was shortly afterwards that he began completing his thoughts on his own Life After Monday. Beginning with this book and new phase of his life, Stephen is now on a mission to share more widely his lifetime of unique insights and contributions to social studies--not only to share, but to transform minds toward a more sane society.
